Miocic Expects ‘DC’ Trilogy This Summer — ‘He’s Gonna Lose Again’

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic, has competed just once since summer 2018, avenging his loss to former titleholder, Daniel Cormier, in the UFC 241 pay-per-view (PPV) main event last August.

Partly because Miocic suffered a serious eye injury while competing against “DC” and while he appears to be on the mend, it could be another couple of months before the part-time firefighter finds his way back inside the Octagon.

Where a Cormier rubber match awaits.

“Yeah, if that’s what the UFC wants,” Miocic told TMZ Sports. “I’m not the matchmaker. Like I always say, if I was the matchmaker, I wouldn’t be fighting. It sucks, it sucks for him. He’s gonna lose again.”

Cormier has also been on the shelf since last August.

The Olympian is expected to retire from combat sports after his Miocic trilogy and considering he turns 41 this month, it’s not the worst idea in the world. “DC” has already held world titles in two different weight classes and has plenty of money.

Let’s just hope the title finds its way back to active competition sooner, rather than later. With the Francis Ngannou vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik heavyweight showdown just around the corner, the last thing we need is another championship logjam.
