UFC free fight: Jessica Eye finishes strong to defeat Jessica-Rose Clark

Jessica Eye has turned her career around since dropping down to 125 pounds.

After snapping a four-fight losing skid with a win over Kalindra Faria in her flyweight debut, Eye (15-7 MMA, 5-6 UFC) faced Jessica-Rose Clark at UFC Fight Night 132 in 2018.

Both women had success early, firing hard shots in the pocket. Eye stuck her jab out, mixing things up nicely with her kicks. Meanwhile, Clark tried to make her pay on the counter.

Midway through the fight, Clark started to pressure Eye, closing the distance and tagging her with multiple overhand rights. However, it was Eye’s diverse striking attack which made the difference in the fight. She ripped into Clark’s body and attacked her legs.

Eye put the definitive touch on the fight with a late takedown, where she was able to ride top control for the last two minutes of the fight en route to a unanimous decision win.

Eye would go on to beat Katlyn Chookagian, earning a title shot against UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko in June 2019. Though things didn’t go Eye’s way, she was able to get back to the win column with a big win over Viviane Aruajo at UFC 245 in December.

Eye headlines her first UFC event when she takes on Cynthia Calvillo on Saturday. The event will take place at UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
