Irene Aldana fell short in the biggest opportunity of her career on Saturday when she lost to Holly Holm in the UFC on ESPN 16 main event.
Aldana (12-6 MMA, 5-4 UFC) lost a lopsided unanimous decision to former champ Holm (14-5 MMA, 7-5 UFC) in the women’s bantamweight headliner, which took place at Flash Forum at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi and aired on ESPN.
There was talk of Aldana fighting for UFC gold prior to her encounter with Holm, and obviously the result puts her back.
