Poirier Captures Community Hero Award

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight title contender and former interim champion, Dustin Poirier, recently captured the 2020 Community Hero Award for his charitable efforts through The Good Fight Foundation in Acadiana, Louisiana.

This award recognizes an individual who has made substantial and noble efforts, often sacrificing of oneself, for the benefit of others and/or the Acadiana community. Through his foundation, Poirier has supported many organizations in Acadiana, including The Acadiana Outreach Center, Acadian Middle School, built a playground for children at Prairieville Elementary as well as completed international charity work. His organization has purchased a year worth of car seats for families in need at a local Lafayette hospital, provided meals to frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic and helped families after recent hurricanes and donated supplies.

Poirier, 31, is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Dan Hooker and is currently negotiating a Conor McGregor rematch for early 2021. “The Diamond” has now won five of his last six and is currently ranked No. 2 at 155 pounds.
