Cage Warriors 119: Jack Grant, Agy Sardari set to battle for vacant lightweight title in London

The final leg of Cage Warriors’ second “Trilogy” series will feature a battle for the promotion’s most storied championship.

The Cage Warriors lightweight title has catapulted a host of fighters from the U,K. regional scene to the global stage, with the likes of Conor McGregor, Stevie Ray, Chris Fishgold, Jai Herbert, and the promotion’s most recent 155-pound champion Mason Jones all graduating to the UFC. Another former Cage Warriors lightweight champ, Denmark’s Soren Bak, also transitioned to the global stage after joining Bellator’s 155-pound roster.

Now, following Jones’ recent move to the UFC, the 155-pound strap is up for grabs once again, with England’s Jack Grant and the Netherlands’ Agy Sardari set to face off for the vacant title at Cage Warriors 119, which takes place Dec. 12 at the York Hall in Bethnal Green, London. The event streams live on UFC Fight Pass.

Grant, who lost out to Herbert when he unsuccessfully challenged for the title in June 2019 at Cage Warriors 106, returns for a second crack at the belt. After 15 months away from the cage, he bounced back from that defeat with a first-round submission win over Yassine Belhadj at Cage Warriors 115 in September.

Sardari, meanwhile, is set to challenge for the title on his promotional debut as he bids to become the first Dutch Cage Warriors champion since Gegard Mousasi captured the promotion’s middleweight title back in December 2006.

The 27-year-old is currently riding a six-fight winning streak, with five of those victories coming inside the distance. Most recently, he defeated two opponents in one night to win the lightweight tournament at regional event Mix Fight Gala 30 in Germany in October.

With the addition, the Cage Warriors 119 fight card includes:

  • Jack Grant vs. Agy Sardari – for vacant lightweight title
  • Kieran Lister vs. Joe McColgan
  • Josh Plant vs. James Sheehan
