With new UFC contract, John Gooden names Joe Rogan as dream broadcast partner

ABU DHABI – John Gooden has signed a multiyear UFC contract extension and has big goals for the upcoming chapter of his career.

Gooden, who will serve as a commentator for UFC on ESPN 20 on Wednesday, has worked with the majority of the UFC’s broadcast team, but there’s one particular name he hasn’t shared the table with.

When asked whom he has aspirations of sharing the broadcast table with, Gooden started off with one of the most famous voices in combat sports commentary, Joe Rogan.

“I haven’t worked with Rogan,” Gooden told MMA Junkie and other reporters on Thursday. “That would be interesting. I don’t think that’ll ever happen, but you never know your luck. I haven’t worked with Dominick (Cruz), so that could be interesting as well. I think otherwise, I think I’ve worked with everyone else.”

In the UFC’s past “Fight Island” stretch, Gooden delivered one of the most memorable lines, calling Joaquin Buckley’s viral spinning back-kick knockout of Impa Kasanganay “real life ninja stuff,” as the highlight continues to be played on loop.

And having signed a new deal with the UFC, Gooden is happy to continue calling fights for MMA’s biggest promotion.

“All I can ever do is try my very best, work as hard as I possibly can, try and add value, and if the UFC like that, they’ll hopefully carry on,” Gooden said. “And I think I’m in a good spot. Been here a while now, so just gotta keep on keeping on.”
