Norbert Novenyi Jr. is ‘magical’ in victory

Norbert Novenyi Jr. | Bellator MMA

The Hungarian submission specialist proves he’s a rising star to keep your eye on.

Bellator 247Jackson vs. Kielholtz” took place October 1, 2020 at Allianz Cloud in Milan, Italy. Two Flyweight contenders were set to meet in the main event as“Miss Dynamite” Denise Kielholtz (5-2) faced English star Kate Jackson (11-4-1).

Also set for the main card that evening were up and coming Middleweight fighters in the form of Norbert Novenyi Jr. (4-0) and Laid Zerhouni (7-5). While Novenyi Jr. had earned the nickname “Magic” for his three submission wins to date, his more experienced opponent Zerhouni had finished five of seven (71%) on the ground, making this fight no cake walk.

Novenyi Jr. proved himself up to the task. As is the case for many jiu-jitsu specialists, being on your back with your opponent on top proved to be advantageous for the “Magic” man, as he wrapped his legs around Zerhouni’s head and pulled it down with his arms to make the squeeze even tighter. Knowing it was either submit or go out, Zerhouni wisely chose to give up at 4:36 of round one.

The young man may still be a long way from title contention against the likes of Gegard Mousasi, but if he stays undefeated and keeps climbing the ladder, 2021 will be a “magical” year.
