Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is just a couple of days away from its UFC 258 pay-per-view (PPV) event, going down this Sat. night (Feb. 13, 2021) inside APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, which means another round of pre-fight “Embedded” video blogs.

UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman believes he’s walking a similar path as former light heavyweight titleholder Rashad Evans. “Suga” won Season 2 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), captured the division crown, then “divorced” his longtime gym after a falling out with Jon Jones.

“It’s funny how similar a path Rashad and I are walking,” Usman told his massage therapist. “It’s the weirdest thing. He was the Ultimate Fighter champ, same with me. He goes and wins a UFC title, same with me. He’s in the hall of fame, I told him when he got inducted, ‘Bro, you know I’m chasing you, right?’ And he left his gym. He left Jackson’s.”

Usman recently left his own gym to distance himself from opponent Gilbert Burns.

UFC 258 “Embedded” also examines the middleweight showdown between Kelvin Gastelum and Ian Heinisch. Gastelum recently connected with longtime mixed martial arts (MMA) coach Rafael Cordeiro at King’s MMA and hopes to realize his potential at 185 pounds.
