Jourdain Welcomes Rojo To The Octagon At UFC Vegas 21

Combate Americas

Marcelo Rojo will get to make his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut after all … though it will be a few weeks later than originally planned. Rojo was set to face Raoni Barcelos at this Saturday’s (Feb. 27, 2021) UFC Vegas 20 event but the fight was scratched after Barcelos tested positive for COVID-19.

With not enough time to find a suitable replacement, Rojo was removed from the card and will now face Charles Jourdain at the UFC Vegas 21 event on March 13 in “Sin City.” That fight was made possible after Steve Garcia — Jourdain’s original opponent — was forced out of the bout for undisclosed reasons according to a report from MMA Fighting.

Rojo (32) racked up a nice 6-2 mark for Combate Americas but hasn’t seen any action inside the cage since defeating Victor Huge Madrigal in Sept. 2019. Jourdain (25), meanwhile, has had a rather tepid run so far inside the Octagon, going just 1-2-1 in four attempts. It will be a huge statement-making win for either man.

UFC Vegas 21 will feature a Welterweight scrap between Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad, as well as a Featherweight scrap between Gavin Tucker and Dan Ige. In other action, Eryk Anders will face Darren Stewart while Ben Rothwell makes his return to face Philipe Lins in Heavyweight action.
