Bellator free fight: Relive Aaron Pico’s vicious knockout win at Bellator 252

Aaron Pico’s most recent appearance inside the Bellator cage produced one of his most impressive finishes.

The Jackson-Wink featherweight extended his run of form to three wins in a row with a resounding knockout victory as he showcased his continued evolution as a rising 145-pound contender.

Pico (7-3 MMA, 7-3 Bellator) looked remarkably comfortable throughout the bout as dominated DeJesus (13-9 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) with his wrestling early on as he scored with ground strikes.

That dominance continued into Round 2 where, after another takedown, Pico looked to lock up an arm-triangle choke. DeJesus managed to escape, but Pico punished him on the feet and dropped his man with a thumping body shot. The gritty DeJesus gamely clambered back to his feet again, only to be decked again with a huge overhand right. This time, however, DeJesus would not return to his feet as the bout was waved off at the 4:12 mark of the second round.

Pico hailed his performance, and his improvement, to his coaches at Jackson Wink, saying, “When I first started with them I was broken,” Pico said. “I was 4-3, and I had some really tough losses, and they rebuilt me, man.”

Pico’s next assignment is set to see him take on England’s Aiden Lee at Bellator 257, with sources informing MMA Junkie of the impending booking but asking to remain anonymous because Bellator has yet to officially announce the bout.
