LAS VEGAS – Merab Dvalishvili is happy to finally get his hands on Cody Stamann at UFC on ESPN 23.
Dvalishvili (12-4 MMA, 5-2 UFC) meets Stamann (19-3-1 MMA, 5-2-1 UFC) in a bantamweight matchup on Saturday’s main card. The pairing between them has been canceled twice before, but now they’ll finally compete.
With a five-fight winning streak to his credit, Dvalishvili said he’s “ready for war” with Stamann and continue his climb up the 135-pound rankings.
“I have to be focused,” Dvalishvili told MMA Junkie at UFC on ESPN 23 media day. “This is a dangerous sport, and I cannot make one mistake, and one little thing can change everything. I don’t want this to happen to me. I want to win and dominate. I don’t want to leave it in the judges’ hands.”
UFC on ESPN 23 takes place at the UFC Apex. The entire card airs on ESPN2 and streams on ESPN+.
