Laura Sanko joins Wimp 2 Warrior as brand ambassador: ‘Everyone has a warrior inside them’

Laura Sanko continues to expand her footprint in the combat sports world.

Sanko, a former MMA fighter who in recent years has emerged as an on-air reporter and personality for the UFC, has taken on another new project as the inaugural brand ambassador for Wimp 2 Warrior.

Wimp 2 Warrior, for those unfamiliar, is a company that takes the everyday person and puts them through a rigorous MMA training program in conjunction with some of the most notable gyms on the planet. Its mission is to evolve those who participate into good enough shape to step into the cage to compete in an amateur fight.

“Simply put, Wimp 2 Warrior is the most life-changing fitness program on the planet – because MMA is so much more than just fitness,” Sanko said in a press release. “It seems contradictory to say, but in many ways, combat sports challenge you mentally more than physically, and that mental journey is where the magic happens. MMA feels so far outside most people’s comfort zones that we often put it on the ‘I could never do that’ shelf.

“Wimp 2 Warrior makes MMA accessible to everyone. I’m so excited to be a part of this company as we invite people of all ages, across the nation, to find their inner warrior. Everyone has a warrior inside them, but at the end of the day, it’s not about being some sort of super hero or badass. The journey to finding that side of yourself is life changing. I know this because it’s my story, too.”

Sanko’s partnership with Wimp 2 Warrior comes on the heels of longtime Bellator matchmaker Rich Chou joining the company as vice president of North America. Chou recently spoke to MMA Junkie about his transition and how Wimp 2 Warrior is going to be making big moves in the coming months.

According to a release, Sanko coming on board is merely the tip of the iceberg. Additional “high-profile personalities and fighters in the MMA space” are expected to get involved with Wimp 2 Warrior moving forward, but Chou said Sanko was the ideal fit to lead off the roster of brand ambassadors.

“Our first order of business is building a team of recognizable faces within the MMA community who represent our ideals, and who have had relatable experiences in their path to training,” Chou stated. “From the moment we spoke to Laura, we were blown away by her balance of understanding of how we are trying to change lives through the W2W program with understanding how to translate our B2B vision directly to the gym owners we look to partner with.”

Sanko, who is deeply connected in the MMA world due to her various jobs in the industry, will “leverage her relationships with professional fighters, coaches and gym owners to further educate them on the W2W program and lay the foundation on how the transformative program can serve as an organic on ramp for prospective new members while providing much needed subsidies and resources to gym owners and their academies.”
