Former UFC welterweight Diego Sanchez has terminated his business and professional relationships with ex-manager Joshua Fabia and plans to make a statement about the next chapter of his life at some point in the coming days.

“Any power of attorney that Fabia had has been rescinded/terminated,” Sanchez’s attorney, Charles Lakins, told MMA Fighting.

Sanchez, who turns 40 later this year, was expected to finish his UFC career with a legends fight against Donald Cerrone in early May; however, some backstage fuckery orchestrated by Fabia — along with a medical snafu — led the promotion to sever ties.

“One of the sad things that happens, not just in fighting but in sports, and I want you to quote me on this, are these creepy weirdos who come from God knows where and leech onto fighters or athletes,” UFC President Dana White previously told Yahoo Sports. “They never do any good for them.”

During the ordeal, several UFC fighters spoke out in hopes of convincing Sanchez to remove the “parasite” from his life, but up until very recently, “The Nightmare” seemed content to double down and stand his ground.

Perhaps someone close to him was finally able to break through.

Sanchez (30-13) recently shared plans to enroll in the Professional Athletes Brain Health Study at the Cleveland Health Clinic in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“I’ve got to take care of myself now,” Sanchez told MMA Fighting. “I have issues from fighting for a long career, and I hope that science gets better, that these doctors can do a good job and see what’s going on and give me some help.”

As of this writing, Fabia has yet to make a statement.
