Davion Frankin sees himself as future heavyweight champ, ready to prove it after Bellator 259

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – Despite being just three fights into his professional career, Davion Franklin is ready to make a run at the Bellator heavyweight title.

Franklin (3-0 MMA, 3-0 BMMA), who entered Bellator 259 at No. 9 in the promotion’s heavyweight rankings, made quick work of Tyler King when he knocked him out in the first round on Friday.

The Jackson Wink MMA prospect wants a quick turnaround and is ready for a fast rise up the division by actively competing.

“They gotta get me back in there,” Franklin said at the Bellator 259 post-fight news conference. “I want to fight on the next card if I could. Seriously.”

He continued, “Anybody in the top-10 rankings. I’m trying to start climbing up those rankings, honestly.”

The undefeated 26-year-old’s goals don’t only include winning the title, but making history in the process.

“Hopefully to stay active,” Franklin said. “Hopefully I can get more fights more often and continue to prove myself and show what I’m worth.”

He continued, “I feel like I’m making a statement, and I’m the heavyweight they need to be watching out for. I’m the guy who’s gonna come take that title. I’m 3-0 right now, and I know a lot of people may think, ‘Oh, he shouldn’t be saying this’ because I’m only 3-0, but I’m willing to prove myself. So the more active I am, the more fights I get, the more I’m going to prove myself and prove that I’m gonna be the youngest title holder in the heavyweight division of Bellator.”
