UFC Fight Night 190 free fight: Alexander Volkov flattens Alistair Overeem

Alexander Volkov is on the path towards a UFC heavyweight title shot.

In his previous outing, Volkov took on Alistair Overeem in the main event of UFC Fight Night 184 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Utilizing his height and reach advantage, the 6-foot-7 Russian kept the pressure high early but patiently picked off his opponent with a variety of accurate strikes throughout the opening round.

The precision striking continued in the second round, as Volkov continued to stalk Overeem around the cage until putting together a pair of hard punching combinations, causing visible damage. After another hard two-punch combination, the referee called a stop to the fight after Overeem fell to the canvas.

Volkov (33-8 MMA, 7-2 UFC) returns to action on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 190 to face Ciryl Gane (8-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) in the main event.
