Despite new UFC contract, Tanner Boser ‘not any less on the chopping block’ at UFC Fight Night 190

LAS VEGAS – For the first time in his MMA career, Tanner Boser is slated to fight twice in the same month.

After losing to Ilir Latifi on June 5, Boser (19-8-1 MMA, 3-3 UFC) makes a 21-day turnaround for a heavyweight co-main event with Ovince Saint Preux (25-15 MMA, 13-10 UFC) on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 190, which takes place at the UFC Apex and streams on ESPN+.

It’s the quickest turnaround of Boser’s nearly nine-year career, and a welcomed opportunity after consecutive losses. He comes into the bout with Saint Preux armed with a recently signed new UFC contract, but still thinks he needs a statement performance.

“I’m still not any less on the chopping block,” Boser told MMA Junkie at Wednesday’s UFC Fight Night 190 media day. “I’ve got to go in there and I’ve got to go for broke. … I don’t know if I have a chip on my shoulder, or if it’s good or bad that I do. I’m here to fight and get another paycheck, back-to-back. It’s nice. I’m trying to right the ship. I’m coming off of two losses, two really close losses. I could easily be on a four-fight win streak. So I’m coming in and I have to get a win. I have to get this monkey off my back so I can enjoy the summer.”
