Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva recently resurrected his combat sports career with a shocking upset over former boxing world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., which may help fellow MMA veteran Vitor Belfort gain the confidence he needs to be successful in his return to the “sweet science.”

Belfort battles Oscar De La Hoya for Triller Fight Club in September.

It should be noted the 44 year-old Brazilian is currently the odds-on betting favorite for their Las Vegas showdown, so if “The Phenom” is able to close the deal against the aging “Golden Boy,” he may be interested in running it back with Silva inside the squared circle.

“I think so,” Belfort told Combate. “They say the rematch is something everyone likes. It’s not the dish we eat, it’s the dish you eat. My message (for Anderson) is: see you soon.”

Silva, now 46, stopped Belfort when they first went to war in the UFC 126 pay-per-view (PPV) main event back in early 2011. Unfortunately for both fighters, Father Time has been their toughest opponent, booting them from MMA after respective knockout losses.

As of this writing, Silva has yet to respond to Belfort’s challenge.
