Jai Herbert aims to show ‘new self’ at UFC Fight Night 190 following ‘whirlwind’ road from debut

LAS VEGAS – Jai Herbert is ready to get back to work almost exactly 11 months after his unsuccessful UFC debut.

Herbert (10-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) returns to action on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 190 when he meets Renato Moicano (14-4-1 MMA, 6-4 UFC) in a lightweight bout at the UFC Apex. The card streams on ESPN+.

Ahead of the matchup, Herbert attended UFC Fight Night 190 media day and discussed his long layoff, his battle with COVID-19 that canceled a matchup with Drakkar Klose, the matchup with Moicano, and more.

“It’s been crazy,” Herbert told MMA Junkie of his layoff. “It’s been a bit of a whirlwind, but I’m here now and I’m looking to perform. I know I’ve had a lot of time off, but I’ve had a lot of time to prepare and get better, work on things I needed to work on, and now I’m ready to show you my new self. Everything I get to show on Saturday night, it’s going to be a great performance.”
