Daniel Pineda overhauled diet for Andre Fili bout at UFC Fight Night 190

LAS VEGAS – It’s been a mixed bag of results for Daniel Pineda since returning to the UFC, but he knows how important winning the next one is. That’s why he made some key changes to his diet.

Pineda (27-14 MMA, 4-5 UFC) gets an opportunity to face a recognizable name in the featherweight division at UFC Fight Night 190 on Saturday when he meets Andre Fili (21-8 MMA, 9-7 UFC) at the UFC Apex. The card streams on ESPN+.

After going 1-1 since coming back to the octagon for a second stint, Pineda sees a big opportunity in the matchup with Fili, and he’s excited for it.

Ahead of the bout, Pineda attended UFC Fight Night 190 media day on Wednesday and discussed making a complete overhaul to his diet and nutrition, his excitement fighting someone with Fili’s name recognition, and more.

“I had a bad diet,” Pineda told MMA Junkie. “I’ve had bad diets, but I didn’t do it right that last fight. For this fight, I took it more serious. … I’m Mexican, and I eat a lot of Mexican food. I don’t eat healthy at all. As soon as the fight’s over, I pig out.”
