UFC Heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has some thoughts about Derrick Lewis vs. Ciryl Gane at UFC 265.

Francis Ngannou can’t help but notice a double-standard pertaining to UFC President Dana White’s decision to book Derrick Lewis vs. Ciryl Gane for the UFC Interim Heavyweight title at UFC 265.

It was revealed on Monday that Lewis and Gane will fight for the interim title at UFC 265, taking place on Sat., Aug. 7 via ESPN+ PPV (pay-per-view). Ngannou’s agent said he was shocked by the news, and “The Predator” shared his own thoughts in a tweet posted on Monday.

“I remember my interim title fight against Jairzinho…” Ngannou wrote tongue-in-cheek on Twitter. “Oh wait.”

Ngannou has advocated for his fight against Jairzinho Rozenstruik at UFC 249 on May 9, 2020 to be for an Interim UFC Heavyweight title. His argument was predicated on Stipe Miocic, the champion at the time, having not defended his title since August 2020. Ngannou beat Rozenstruik and eventually defeated Miocic for the UFC Heavyweight title at UFC 260 on March 27, 2021, following Miocic’s trilogy fight with Daniel Cormier.

UFC 265 takes place on Sat., Aug. 7 via ESPN+ PPV. The card will be headlined by Derrick Lewis vs. Ciryl Gane for the UFC Interim Heavyweight title and also boasts Amanda Nunes vs. Julianna Pena for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight strap.
