UFC on ESPN 29 poster: Kelvin Gastelum steps up once again to face Jared Cannonier

Kelvin Gastelum continues to prove that he’s willing to take on all comers.

Stepping in for another main event slot, Gastelum (16-7 MMA, 11-7 UFC) will replace Paulo Costa to face Jared Cannonier (13-5 MMA, 6-5 UFC) on Aug. 21 at UFC on ESPN 29.

After snapping his three-fight losing skid with a win over Ian Heinisch at UFC 258, Gastelum dropped a unanimous decision to former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker. The Season 17 “Ultimate Fighter” winner is 1-4 in his past five outings.

Cannonier is also coming off a loss to Whittaker in a fight in which he broke his arm. Prior to that, Cannonier picked up three straight stoppage wins over David Branch, former UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva, and Jack Hermansson.
