Adesanya’s Message To The Middleweight Division: ‘You’re F—ked’

Israel Adesanya lost a little bit of that invincible vibe he had going for him when he dropped a decision loss to Jan Blachowicz in his failed attempt to become a double champion. Even a solid but unspectacular win over Marvin Vettori couldn’t put the 185 pound division back on notice. So Adesanya is taking to social media to send a very clear message to the middleweights.

“PSA: Middleweights…you’re f—ked,” he wrote on Twitter. “Another metamorphosis happened on my 32nd trip around the sun. Bottom line, it has come to my attn that Imma need to #applypressure on everything. But yea, all you c—ts at 185 get better or get better excuses. Have a good day!”

Adesanya is expected to face Robert Whittaker next, and it’s a pretty intense New Zealand vs. Australia rivalry. Adesanya is already up 1-0 over Whittaker after KO’ing him back in October of 2019, but Whittaker has been looking pretty good lately and again … that invincibility “The Last Stylebender” brought coming up is starting to look a bit iffy.

Any hope of the rematch between the two going down in Australia or New Zealand is probably just a pipe dream with the Delta variant of COVID-19 causing waves internationally and at home. The UFC just nixed plans to hold a September event in London, and there’s big doubts a November return to Madison Square Gardens will happen considering UFC president Dana White’s refusal to do half-arenas or really any anti-COVID measures at his show.

Unless the UFC decides to drop Adesanya vs. Whittaker onto the proposed NYC UFC 268 card in November (currently headlined by Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington), we’re looking at an end of year fight date for Adesanya’s return. We can’t wait to see if it lives up to his social media hype.
