The two MMA legends will box each other on the undercard of Triller’s Oscar De La Hoya vs. Vitor Belfort event.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champions Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz are nearly set to fight on September 11th, but it won’t be in the cage. No, both fighters will don boxing gloves and step into the squared circle to fight with just their fists and nothing else.

The bout is just the latest intriguing sideshow proposed for Triller’s upcoming Oscar De La Hoya vs. Vitor Belfort event. And while De La Hoya vs. Belfort is certainly a fight that’s caught our interest, now Triller has our full attention with Silva vs. Ortiz.

It’s smart of Triller to cut down a little on the Justin Bieber / DOJA CAT musical acts budget to justify this. And we gotta say it’s nice to see them stack the card with both bouts rather than split ‘em across multiple events. Now we get De La Hoya vs. Belfort AND Silva vs. Ortiz for the low price of $39.99.

IF, that is, Anderson Silva signed on the dotted line. Tito Ortiz is already in, declaring on Twitter yesterday that ‘the fight is signed.’

And now MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz confirmed the details along with Anderson Silva’s ‘targeted’ involvement:

The last time we saw Tito Ortiz compete in the cage was in December of 2019 at Combate Americas against former WWE superstar Alberto El Patron (aka Alberto Del Rio, aka Dos Caras Jr., aka El Patrón Alberto, aka Hustle Kamen Gold). He won that fight in the first round — his third first round victory in a row following wins over Chael Sonnen and Chuck Liddell in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

As for Anderson Silva, he followed up on a brutal 1-7-1 skid in the UFC with a divine boxing performance against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., defeating the former boxing champ via split decision in June of 2021.

So what do you think, Maniacs? Does this extra freakshow fight do enough to bring you around on Triller’s Oscar De La Hoya vs. Vitor Belfort card?
