Here’s What UFC Paid Gane To KO Lewis

Ciryl Gane stopped Derrick Lewis in the UFC 265 pay-per-view (PPV) main event earlier this month in Houston, Texas, winning the interim heavyweight strap and guaranteeing himself the next shot at reigning 265-pound titleholder Francis Ngannou.

Gane, who improved to 10-0 with his finish of “The Black Beast,” told L’Equipe (via MMA Junkie) he was paid $350,000, which boiled down to roughly $188,000 after taxes. That might seem like a sizable reduction, but “Bon Gamin” also had to pay for his team, as well as other pre-fight expenses.

Can’t say Jose Aldo didn’t warn you.

The good news is that Gane also banked a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus, along with $32,000 as a part of the UFC Promotional Guidelines program. Simply put, it was a great night at the office for the hard-hitting Frenchman.

For Lewis … not so much.

No word yet on when the promotion will book Gane vs. Ngannou, but with the promotion’s fight calendar quickly filling up, their title unification bout is likely to take place in late December or early 2022, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
