Bubba Jenkins confident he’ll ‘run over’ Chris Wade in semifinal bout at PFL Playoffs

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Bubba Jenkins doesn’t see names, just obstacles standing on his way to greatness.

The PFL featherweight doesn’t see more than just a roadblock he needs to get through when thinking about his upcoming bout at PFL. Jenkins (16-4) takes on Chris Wade in a featherweight semifinal bout on the main card of 2021 PFL Playoffs 3 set to go down on Friday night.

The bout is scheduled to take place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino with the main card airing on ESPN 2 and ESPN+ and the prelims exclusively on ESPN+.

Jenkins is as confident as ever and believes it’s in his destiny to become a PFL champion and beyond.

“I don’t really think about Chris Wade,” Jenkins told MMA Junkie. “He’s a serious opponent and I’m taking him seriously, but other than that, man, everyone only talks to me about Chris Wade because I’m fighting him.

“What we said last time – bad man vs. bad man and Jenkins vs. Jenkins. It’s no disrespect to Chris Wade, but it’s bigger than him and bigger than me. He’s standing in the way. He just wants to be a champion, I’m destined for greatness.

“He wants the title and the $1 million, but I’m after something different. We have two different mindsets and two different callings. My sh*t is bigger than him regardless of whether he’s there or he gets hurt and they pull somebody else. Whoever it is, I’m headed to $1 million and no one is going to stop that.”

And as far as the opposite matchup on the PFL featherweight semifinals, Jenkins is also indifferent about who advances to the final. The winner of Brendan Loughnane vs. Movlid Khaybulaev will be just another face for Jenkins if he were to get past Wade on Friday.

“May the best foreigner win, I don’t know,” Jenkins said. “This is America, we going to do the American thing, U.S.A. all day. Whoever is going to get that (W) is going to get an L after this, so we don’t really care about the other side of the bracket. One step at a time.”
