DWCS winner Josh Quinlan won’t let quick finish get to his head: ‘I want to continue upping my level’

LAS VEGAS – Josh Quinlan won’t be riding the high from his big finish at Dana White’s Contender Series 38 for too long.

Quinlan (6-0) dispatched of Logan Urban in just 47 seconds in the featured bout on Tuesday, earning a UFC contract for his impressive performance.

The humble Hawaiian has finished all six of his pro wins but is currently taking things one step at a time and focusing on maturing as a fighter.

“I’m not going to let this get to my head,” Quinlan said at the post-fight news conference. “I’m already kind of simmering down, and I would like to keep training, and I know I can get better from this. It’s just performance, and I want to continue upping my level and seeing the next challenge.”

He continued, “I would love to just continue to show the good technique that I’ve learned and that’s passed on to me, continue upping my level. Whether it’d be not receiving too much damage through the fights or maneuvering well or picking apart my opponent. Every opponent brings a different challenge to the table, it’s another puzzle to be solved, and I want to continue developing my mind and staying composed in there, as well as being conscious and being present in the moment.”
