DWCS 42 winner Fernie Garcia dreams of sharing card with UFC champion Brandon Moreno

LAS VEGAS – UFC flyweight Brandon Moreno has inspired many Mexican fighters, including the promotion’s newest bantamweight, Fernie Garcia.

Garcia (10-1) earned a UFC contract at Dana White’s Contender Series 42 on Tuesday when he scored a first-round TKO of Josh Weems.

Coming out of the bout relatively unscathed, the Fortis MMA fighter is ready for a quick turnaround and would love nothing more than to compete on the same card as Moreno, who defends his title against Deiveson Figueiredo in a trilogy bout Dec. 11 at UFC 269.

“I’m ready to go by Monday,” Garcia said during the DWCS 42 post-fight news conference. “I’m gonna go spend some time with my family, clear some things up, and I’ll be ready to go by Monday. I’d like to fight this year again. Of course my dream would be to fight on any Brandon Moreno card with the Mexicans. I would love to fight on one of his cards, so if I can get on one of Brandon’s cards that would be great. But I’ll be ready whenever. I’ll be ready in two, three weeks, ready to go. … I’ll be ready to go by December for sure.”
