Victorious in move back to featherweight, Bellator 268 winner Henry Corrales unsure what went wrong at 135

PHOENIX – Henry Corrales is back in the win column at his original home.

Corrales (19-6 MMA, 7-6 BMMA), who moved back up to 145 pounds after a failed one-fight stint at bantamweight, picked up a unanimous decision win over Vladyslav Parubchenko on Saturday at Bellator 268 at Footprint Center in Phoenix.

Although the former King of the Cage dual-champ didn’t experience any ill effects when he made his 135-pound debut against Johnny Campbell at Bellator 258, the fight didn’t go his way when he was submitted in the second round.

“I lied – I never made bantamweight,” Corrales said. “I was like, ‘Yeah, I’ve made bantamweight before. Let me go down there and f*ck somebody up. And they were like, ‘Oh, OK.’ But I’ve never even made bantamweight. … I did it and I felt great, but sh*t happens. I had a great camp and everything, but it didn’t work out and here we are.

“I honestly felt good. But once that bell rings, there’s no remorse and everything goes out the window. (I had a) f*cking good camp (at bantamweight). (It) doesn’t matter how you feel. Oh, you had a good warmup backstage? That doesn’t matter. It’s one of those things. So I don’t know.”
