Rizin FF 32 set for Nov. 20, features Rena Kubota vs. Miyuu Yamamoto

An intriguing rematch between a pair of super atomweight contenders will serve as the headlining bout of Rizin FF 32.

Promotion officials recently announced that Rena Kubota (11-3) and Miyuu Yamamoto (6-5) will clash in the main event of the card, which takes place Nov. 20 at Okinawa Arena in Okinawa, Japan. The card streams via pay-per-view on LIVENow.

“We are planning to put on monthly events for the rest of the year while following the guidelines given from the government,” Rizin CEO Nobuyuki Sakakibara said. “I am proud to announce that we will be holding an event in Okinawa for the first time in November.”

Kubota and Yamamoto first met in 2016. It was Yamamoto’s MMA debut, with Kubota walking away from the contest with a first-round submission win.

A multiple-time freestyle wrestling work champion and the sister of MMA legend Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto, Miyuu believes she’s primed to win this time around.

“Okinawa is a very special place for me, a place where I
started my MMA career with ‘Kid’ and Erson,” Yamamoto said. “I have many people here in Okinawa who I am proud to call family, and I want to put a smile on their face. I think I’ve gotten much better than five years ago, so I will get that revenge.”

Unsurprisingly, Kubota – who currently boasts a three-fight winning streak – disagrees.

“It’s been about a year since my last fight, but I’ve been training hard, and my confidence is growing,” Kubota said. “I feel that this rematch was destined to happen here, in Okinawa, where it means so much for both of us. This fight will determine the direction of my final stretch of my career, so I plan on a good performance, not giving Miyuu a successful revenge.”
