Angela Hill keen to relieve fighting ‘blue balls’ after cancellation-heavy 2021 run

LAS VEGAS – Angela Hill is thrilled to finally get back in the octagon on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 199.

Hill (13-10 MMA, 8-10 UFC) returns to action in a strawweight bout with Amanda Lemos (10-1-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) in what will be her first fight since August and her third of 2021. Although that’s a regular pace for most, it’s a step down from what “Overkill” is used to.

There could’ve been more fights than the three, but Hill had three different dates called out due to various COVID-19-related issues. That’s caused some frustration, and Hill is ken to finally relieve that by stepping in the cage this weekend.

“There’s a lot of fight weeks I’ve been ready that we weren’t able to do because of COVID,” Hill told MMA Junkie at UFC Fight Night 199 media day. “Either I had it or they had it or whatever. There’s a lot of blue balls there when it came to actually being able to punch someone in the face. I was grateful when I got the call to fill in for this one.”

Hill said the matchup with Lemos, which streams on ESPN+ from the UFC Apex, is one that should bring out her best. Lemos has won four straight fights and is gaining steam as a future player in the division, but Hill has had more UFC fights than anyone at 115 pounds, and she intends to put her opponent in her place.

“She’s super impressive when you watch, but the one thing is she hasn’t fought an elite striker like me,” Hill said. “I’ve been in there with the best, I’ve dropped the best, I’ve fought the best. I don’t see her posing any threats I haven’t seen before, but she is fast, she is strong and she has power in her punches. I do respect that about her, but I do feel confident.”
