Bellator signs former Rizin FF grand prix winner Tofiq Musayev

Following a six-fight stint under the Rizin FF banner, Tofiq Musayev is the newest addition to the Bellator roster.

Promotion officials confirmed to MMA Junkie that the veteran lightweight has agreed to a multi-fight deal with the organization. The signing was initially reported by Ariel Helwani.

The 32-year-old Musayev (18-4) last saw action in June, when he suffered a surprising submission loss to Roberto de Souza in a failed bid to claim Rizin’s then-vacant lightweight belt.

Prior to the setback, Musayev has enjoyed a 14-fight win streak, including victories over UFC veterans Daron Cruickshank, Damien Brown and Johnny Case, as well as a December 2019 win over current Bellator lightweight champ Patricky “Pitbull” Freire to claim the Rizin grand prix crown.

Competing professionally since 2013, Musayev has claimed 16 of his 18 career victories via stoppage, including 14 by knockout.

A promotional debut date and opponent for the Azerbaijan native has not yet been revealed.
