Said Nurmagomedov hopes to return before Ramadan in April, interested in Marlon Vera

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Said Nurmagomedov is hoping to get in one more fight before before Ramadan.

The Dagestani fighter is coming off a dominant and quick submission over Cody Stamann at Saturday’s UFC 270. Nurmagomedov (15-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC) tapped Stamann (19-5-1 MMA, 5-4-1 UFC) with a guillotine choke at the 0:47 mark of Round 1 of their bantamweight contest.

Nurmagomedov now is on a two-fight winning streak and 9-1 in his past 10 MMA bouts. He hopes to fight once again before the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, which starts in early April.

“I want to fight before Ramadan,” Nurmagomedov told reporters at the UFC 270 post-fight news conference. “I’m ready to be back soon. I also heard that the (UFC) is going to be in Brooklyn on April 8, and I want to fight there.”

The UFC has four shows planned in April. One is in Jacksonville, Fla., but the other three have yet to have official locations announced.

Nurmagomedov is not exclusive to any opponent, but did mention Ecuador’s Marlon Vera, who was present at UFC 270.

“Any top opponent,” Nurmagomedov said. “I’ve talked about ‘Chito’ Vera before, but any top opponent.”
