Javier Mendez: Khabib Nurmagomedov would dominate Georges St-Pierre in grappling match

Javier Mendez thinks Khabib Nurmagomedov would have his way with Georges St-Pierre if they ever grappled.

Nurmagomedov and St-Pierre never got to fight each other in MMA, but with both men dominating their respective weight classes, talks of a potential superfight continued to emerge until both former champions hung up their gloves.

But one way Nurmagomedov and St-Pierre could compete is in a grappling match, an idea that has been brought up by Eagle FC president Shamil Zavurov.

Mendez likes the proposition, but says it would be a bad night for St-Pierre, the UFC’s leader for most takedowns in promotional history.

“That would be interesting. That would be fun to watch,” Mendez told “Submission Radio.”

He continued, “Khabib is going to dominate him just like he does everybody else. That’s what I expect. I expect nothing less from him. I’ve never seen him not dominate anybody.”

Although retired, Nurmagomedov is continuously in the gym helping his teammates, serving as both a coach and mentor for them. Mendez says the former UFC lightweight champion is currently walking around at 195-200 pounds, which will only make him an even bigger threat.

“He’s grappling now, he kills everybody,” Mendez said. “That guy is still killing everybody. Everybody. He’s heavier though. But he’s killing everybody more dominantly than when he was lighter, nd he kills everybody bro – everybody.”
