Phil Davis isn’t about to let Julius Anglickas make name off him at Bellator 276

Phil Davis is keen on shutting down Julius Anglickas’ title hopes.

Davis (23-6 MMA, 10-3 BMMA) meets Anglickas (10-2 MMA, 3-1 BMMA) in the Bellator 276 co-main event on March 12 at Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo.

Both Davis and Anglickas were recently eliminated by reigning Bellator champion Vadim Nemkov from the light heavyweight grand prix. Former champ Davis, who rebounded with a split decision win over Yoel Romero at Bellator 266, knows he is a big opportunity for Anglickas to increase his stock, and it’s his job to prevent that from happening.

“I’m standing in this man’s way of becoming champion, so that’s the thing that gets me up,” Davis told MMA Junkie Radio, “is that this guy wants to make a name off of you, and you, my friend, are going to disrupt that.”

Although he’s suffered two setbacks to Nemkov, Davis, the No. 2 ranked Bellator 205 pounder, still has his eyes on another fight with the champ.

“The thing that is pressing me is this joker Nemkov is something else,” Davis said. “He’s tough, he’s got a win over me, and that doesn’t sit well with me. I’m over here right now, and he is here, and I’ve gotta get this joker or get the man that gets him.”
