Video: UFC champ Francis Ngannou shares a glimpse into his physical therapy following knee surgery

UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou is working his way back to fighting shape.

In March, Ngannou underwent knee surgery following his most recent title defense at UFC 270, where he defeated Ciryl Gane via unanimous decision. The procedure repaired a Grade 3 MCL tear and damaged ACL in the right knee.

The journey to a full recovery is underway for the heavyweight champ, who shared a video on social media that gives a glimpse into his physical therapy routine just 17 days after the operation on his knee.

Ngannou gets his stitches removed and gave a look at the various stretching methods and basic functional movements such as extending his leg straight while sitting. He is also shown using cupping therapy around the knee, which helps alleviate pain, inflammation, and blood flow.

Ngannou could face a nine-month recovery period before getting ready to step inside the cage again. UFC president Dana White has already discussed the idea of an interim belt while Ngannou is on the mend, although there has been no confirmation of who would compete for the vacant interim title and when that contest would take place.
