Montana De La Rosa confident in advantages over Maycee Barber at UFC Fight Night 205

LAS VEGAS – Montana De La Rosa sees her physical advantages over Maycee Barber helping her dictate the fight at UFC Fight Night 205.

De La Rosa (12-6-1 MMA, 5-2-1 UFC) faces Barber (9-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) in a women’s flyweight bout on Saturday’s card, which streams on ESPN+ from the UFC Apex, and she’ll enter the fight with both a height and reach advantage.

“I think the reach advantage is going to be huge,” De La Rosa told MMA Junkie at UFC Fight Night 205 media day on Wednesday. “I think she has trouble finding her own range. I think I’ll be able to keep her at distance and kind of take the fight where I want it to go and if that means staying farther away and jabbing her or getting in close, I think I’ll be able to do whatever I want to at that point.”

De La Rosa notched her first ground-and-pound finish in her last outing against Ariane Lipski, and she’ll look to carry that momentum against Barber.

“I’m 100 percent always looking for the finish,” De La Rosa said. “I don’t like going in there and leaving it to the judges, that never works out well so if I’m in there, you know I’m 100 percent trying to finish you.”
