Michael ‘Venom’ Page not impressed with Logan Storley’s striking: ‘It’s nowhere near mine’

LONDON – Michael Page expects to have a significant advantage on the feet against Logan Storley at Bellator 281.

Page (20-1 MMA, 16-1 BMMA) faces Storley for the interim welterweight title Friday in the Bellator 281 main event, which takes place at OVO Arena Wembley in London. The main card airs on Showtime following prelims on MMA Junkie.

Storley (13-1 MMA, 8-1 BMMA) is coming off a five-round headliner win over Neiman Gracie, where outstruck the jiu-jitsu ace in an entertaining standup battle. But after seeing standout wrestler Storley let his hands go for 25 minutes, “MVP” doesn’t think he has too much to worry about in that department.

“It’s nowhere near mine,” Page told MMA Junkie. “It’s not something that I looked at and thought, ‘Oh my God, now I need to worry about his striking.’ Not at all. I had already anticipated that these two fighting. It wouldn’t go to the ground because Logan is gonna be worried about getting taken down and Neiman is not gonna have good enough wrestling to take Logan down, so it’s gonna be who’s the best at standup and the best of the worse in my opinion and he was definitely the better striker there.”

With Bellator welterweight champion Yaroslav Amosov opting to stay in Ukraine to defend his country in their war against Russia, his future is uncertain. Page is interested in challenging the unbeaten champ if he’s victorious Friday, but is focused more on staying active.

“We can’t keep bringing Amosov in because he’s just in a crazy situation, a crazy scenario that I wouldn’t wish on anybody,” Page said. “So for me, until he’s back, it’s not even a conversation to have. I would like that fight, but it’s not something I’m even thinking about chasing until his situation is resolved. So for me, once I’ve got this it’s on to the next. I want to keep active so I’m not gonna keep waiting for that scenario to kind of resolve itself.”
