Manuel Torres wants to return ‘as soon as possible’ after violent finish of Frank Camacho at UFC on ESPN 36

LAS VEGAS – Manuel Torres scored yet another first-round finish at UFC on ESPN 36.

Torres (13-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) knocked down Frank Camacho down with a thunderous right hook on Saturday’s lightweight main card bout at the UFC Apex, forcing referee Herb Dean to intervene and wave off the fight.

The 27-year-old Mexican fighter notched his fourth consecutive win and hopes he can continue building momentum with a quick turnaround.

“As soon as possible,” Torres told reporters at the UFC on ESPN 36 post-fight press conference. “Of course I want to rest, I want to go back to my family, I want to see if everything is OK, but just as soon as possible. Starting training with people at Entram (Gym) again and just as soon as possible come back.”

The finish, which Torres predicted prior to the fight, earned him a Performance of the Night bonus. The Dana White Contender Series graduate broke down the fight-ending sequence.

“The plan was actually to just change it up a little bit and just always try and punch away and find holes,” Torres said. “That’s my style of fighting. That’s what I always want. I want to find the holes and just try and knock him down, but I see it. All of a sudden it became that, and I just went with it.”

He continued, “When he got down to the ground, I was kind of hesitant. I was like, ‘Do I stay or do I go?’ And when I got close to him, I remembered he’s a blackbelt, so I kind of stayed back a little bit.”
