LAS VEGAS – Santiago Ponzinibbio can almost guarantee that his UFC Fight Night 206 matchup with Michel Pereira will deliver.
Ponzinibbio (28-5 MMA, 10-4 UFC) faces Pereira (27-11 MMA, 5-2 UFC) in Saturday’s welterweight co-main event at the UFC Apex. The card streams on ESPN+.
“A lot of people are talking about this fight,” Ponzinibbio told MMA Junkie and other reporters at UFC Fight Night 206 media day. “He has a really big name for this style that he has. It’s very different. He’s a big name and good fighter. He comes in a good moment, four victories in a row. I think it’s a great matchup.”
He continued, “I think this fight is gonna be an epic fight for the division. It’s gonna be a war, and for sure it has all the ingredients to be a bonus fight.”
With a combined 25 knockouts between the two and their action-packed striking approaches, Ponzinibbio is looking forward to putting on a show.
“They’re gonna see a really exciting fight,” Ponzinibbio added. “Both styles looking for a knockout, power, like the standup fight. That’s what the people want to see.”
