‘Very petty’ Michael Page wants Logan Storley rematch: ‘I’ve legit had harder spars’

Michael Page will have redemption on his mind until he gets a rematch with Logan Storley.

Page (20-2 MMA, 16-2 BMMA) experienced just the second loss of his career earlier this month when he dropped a split decision to Storley (14-1 MMA, 9-1 BMMA) in the main event of Bellator 281. Although many, including Bellator president Scott Coker, think MVP won the fight, two of the three judges felt different, and Storley left with the interim welterweight title.

Defeat is an unfamiliar feeling for Page and not one that sits well with him, he said. When Page was beaten the first time back in May 2019, it came as the result of a highlight-reel knockout against Douglas Lima. The Brit went on a five-fight winning streak to get his rematch with Lima and would edge out a split decision to get some revenge.

Page was obsessed with setting the record straight against Lima after he lost to him. And although the outcome with Storley wasn’t nearly as devastating from a physical standpoint, Page admits he’s mentally just as eager to get it back.

“I’m a very petty person,” Page told MMA Junkie two days after the fight. “He’s won but not in any kind of spectacular fashion. I’ve legit had harder spars. The reason I say it that way is because physically I don’t have a bruise, I don’t have a sore, I don’t have an ache. Anything. It doesn’t even feel like I’ve had a five-round fight. That’s probably the most frustrating thing about it, is losing in a way where I know for a fact I could go into a fight this weekend and feel fine and be good to go. I know he couldn’t say the same.”

Page said he doesn’t know what his road to a rematch with Storley looks like. Storley is expected to move on to a title unification bout vs. Yaroslav Amosov, but with Amosov on duty fighting the war against Russia in his native Ukraine, it’s unknown when he’ll be available to compete again.

In the meantime, Page said he’ll be ready to work against any opponent who Bellator deems appropriate. He said he’ll maintain that approach until the rematch comes around.

“I want to get it back,” Page said. “I’m going to be pushing, working, putting on more fights until I’m able to get back to that position.”
