Intense POV video shows UFC’s Mackenzie Dern training boxing with coach Jason Parillo

When Mackenzie Dern entered the UFC in 2018, we already knew the Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace’s ground game would be a problem for her opponents. It was her standup that was a concern.

The early part of her UFC tenure was rough in that department. Lately, though, her hands have looked more polished. The improvement has been evident under the tutelage of boxing coach Jason Parillo.

On Monday, Dern gave us a glimpse into her training with an intense POV video on Instagram that shows her working uppercuts as Parillo holds mitts.

The little details that make a big difference. What goes into the day to day training and learning!

We love seeing this work up close and hearing the coaching from Parillo first hand.

Dern, 29, is coming off a split decision win over Tecia Torres in April at UFC 273. Prior to that win, Dern might’ve secured a strawweight title shot, but she lost to Marina Rodriguez last October to snap a four-fight winning.

If Dern is going to become a UFC champion, continuing to improve her standup will go a long way.
