SINGAPORE – Seungwoo Choi sees a UFC title in his future.

A 29-year-old South Korean prospect, Choi (10-4 MMA, 3-3 UFC) has shown some serious promise in his UFC career so far. However, he saw his three-fight winning streak snapped when he was submitted by Alex Caceres in his past outing in October.

Looking to regain momentum, Choi faces Josh Culibao (9-1-1 MMA, 1-1-1 UFC) at featherweight in the featured UFC 275 prelim Saturday in Singapore. He hopes a win can kickstart a title run.

“I always think there’s no easy fights so I always fight step by step,” Choi told MMA Junkie and other reporters at a UFC 275 pre-fight news conference. “With this fight, I will show off my performance here and do my best and show you guys who I am.

“… I don’t think underrating me is a problem, so I will always improve my disadvantage so I will try and improve all my aspects. (My) first purpose is (to get) to top 10, then get my belt.”

Choi’s three octagon setbacks can be tacked up to deficiencies on the ground, where he was out-grappled by opponents. The loss to Caceres prompted Choi to make some changes making him confident he’ll no longer face issues in the grappling department.

“In my last fight, I lost to Alex by rear-naked choke, too, so after that I (thought), ‘I really need to improve my ground game,’” Choi said. “I focused on that in my training camp, so I think I will never lose with that technique again.”

UFC 275 takes place Saturday at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN2 and ESPN+.
