UFC books Cheyanne Vlismas against Tabatha Ricci for Oct. 1 event

Strawweight prospects Cheyanne Vlismas and Tabatha Ricci will square off in October.

Vlismas (7-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) meets Ricci (7-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at a UFC Fight Night on Oct. 1, which doesn’t yet have a publicly-known venue or location at this time.

Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the booking but asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. Ag. Fight was first to report the booking and Cageside Press was first to report the date.

Since she dropped her UFC debut to Montserrat Ruiz, Vlismas has won her past two in a row. A Dana White’s Contender Series graduate, Vlismas scored back-to-back bonuses for a TKO of Gloria de Paula in July and a “Fight of the Night” against Mallory Martin in December.

Ricci is also on an upswing, with two straight wins after a loss in her UFC debut. The 27-year-old Brazilian picked up unanimous decision victories against Maria Oliveira and, most recently, Polyana Viana in May.

With the addition, the Oct. 1 lineup includes:

• Chelsea Chandler vs. Leah Letson
• Vinc Pichel vs. Jesse Ronson
• Tabatha Ricci vs. Cheyanne Vlismas
