Road to UFC’s Josefine Knutsson vows to ‘step it up’ if awarded UFC contract

SINGAPORE – While she’s not a part of the Road to UFC tournament, strawweight Josefine Knutsson got the opportunity to compete during the promotion’s new series.

Knutsson (4-0) kept her undefeated record intact by winning a unanimous decision against Ye Dam Seo at Road to UFC Episode 3 at Singapore Indoor Stadium.

It was a one-sided bout with Knutsson winning every round on the scorecards and was even awarded a 10-8 round by one judge.

While the tournament is designed to provide a direct path to the UFC, as the winners will be awarded a contract with the promotion, there is no women’s strawweight bracket, which leaves Knutsson’s chances of becoming a UFC fighter unclear.

“Of course, I want the contract,” Knutsson said. “I know I have to step it up more, like I have to show all of me. I’m not sure if this is enough, I can’t speak for UFC, what they like or not. I really hope they like what they see and they know I can bring out more.

“I don’t know, but I know for sure that if I get a contract, it’s going to motivate me so much more. Because if I get the harder fights and if I get the contract, then I will bring out so much more. It’s just something inside me I can’t explain what it is. Like, I just have to get to the next level all the time and bring up my level too.”
