Jake Paul has signed a multiyear deal with Professional Fighters League and will make his mixed martial arts debut this year.
The YouTube star turned professional boxer will compete in a newly created division called ‘Super Fight,’ and intends to do both boxing and MMA in 2023. The New York Times first reported the news and spoke with Paul about his transition to MMA.
“This is about changing MMA, disrupting, innovating, and creating the next big league,” said Paul.
“I’ve already disrupted boxing, and now it’s time to disrupt MMA,” continued Paul. “I know this is such a tough sport, and it’s not going to be easy, but if I could do it in boxing, I could do it in MMA.”
The Super Fight division will compete on pay-per-view with the events airing on ESPN and DAZN platforms. Paul released a video to his YouTube channel confirming the signing.
“I’ve officially signed as a MMA fighter to the fastest growing sports league in the world, the PFL,” Paul said in the video. “Not only am I an MMA fighter now officially signed to an organization, but I am also a co-founder of the new PFL Pay-Per-View Super Fight division.”
