UFC heading to Nashville, Tenn. on Aug. 5, says commission

The UFC is returning to Tennessee for the first time since 2019.

On Aug. 5, the promotion will host a Fight Night event at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, the Tennessee Atheltic Commission confirmed Monday at a quarterly meeting. Various sources have also informed MMA Junkie that fighters and their teams have been told it is the confirmed location for the event.

The UFC has yet to officially announce a main event for the card. However, MMA Junkie has confirmed a number of bouts, including the return to strawweight for Tatiana Suarez. After nearly four years out of action due to injury, Suarez resumed her career in February at flyweight. She will return to 115 pounds to take on Virna Jandiroba. Also at the event, former UFC title challenger and Tennessee Volunteer football player Ovince Saint Preux will take on Ion Cutelaba.

In the promotion’s last visit to the state, it held an event on March 23, 2019, at the same venue. UFC on ESPN+ 6 featured a welterweight main event between former title challenger Stephen Thompson and former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis.

The current lineup for the Aug. 5 event includes:

  • Virna Jandiroba vs. Tatiana Suarez
  • Said Nurmagomedov vs. Kyler Phillips
  • Ion Cutelaba vs. Ovince Saint Preux
  • Ignacio Bahamondes vs. Ludovit Klein
  • Damon Jackson vs. Billy Quarantillo
  • Dustin Jacoby vs. Kennedy Nzechukwu
  • Asu Almabaev vs. Ode Osbourne
  • Jake Hadley vs. Tagir Ulanbekov
