Nate Diaz Pushes For Important Stipulation Change In Jake Paul Fight, ‘Problem Child’ On Board

Nate Diaz has reportedly requested that his upcoming boxing match with Jake Paul be ten rounds instead of eight, and Paul is apparently on board with the request.

According to Marc Raimondi the change was initially put forward by Diaz, and after both camps agreed to the idea it’s now up to the Texas Combative Sports Program to formally approve the request.

“Nate Diaz has requested his fight with Jake Paul be extended from eight rounds to 10 rounds and Paul has agreed to the change, both teams confirmed with ESPN. They are now waiting on approval from the Texas Combative Sports Program.”

Additional Rounds Could Favor Nate Diaz Against Jake Paul

The two fighters are set to meet on August 5, in Dallas, Texas, which will mark Diaz’s pro boxing debut and his first fight since submitting Tony Ferguson in the main event of UFC 279 last year.

The 38-year-old’s request to add two more rounds to his boxing debut will come as little surprise to longtime MMA fans, as both Nate and his brother Nick have relied heavily on cardio to outlast opponents during their fighting careers.

Eight rounds is the most the 26-year-old has been scheduled to fight thus far, but his cardio did hold up enough to win decisions over former UFC champions Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley.

It remains to be seen whether or not the requested change for two additional rounds will be approved, but at the very least it appears that Diaz has moved on from his suggestion that the fight should be moved to a state with more progressive laws regarding marijuana use,
