Cory Sandhagen in need of new UFC Nashville main event opponent

Cory Sandhagen is looking for a new opponent to keep him in the UFC Nashville main event. His planned opponent, Umar Nurmagomedov, is reportedly out of the fight, leaving UFC officials on the hunt for someone to fight Sandhagen on short notice.

UFC Nashville takes place on Aug. 5 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. The bantamweight battle was supposed to pit No. 4 ranked Sandhagen against No. 11 ranked Nurmagomedov.

Sandhagen (16-4) is on a two-fight winning streak. He was hoping to add the highly touted and undefeated Nurmagomedov to his hit list in an attempt to get back into the title picture.

Nurmagomedov (16-0) will now miss out on a golden opportunity. If he were to have defeated Sandhagen, his stock would have shot through the rough, catapulting him up the rankings.

Who headlines UFC Nashville if Cory Sandhagen doesn’t get a new opponent?

If the UFC is unable to find a suitable opponent to keep Sandhagen in the main event, there aren’t a lot of other options already signed to the the UFC Nashville fight card. About the only other bout that might be a good replacement would be the women’s strawweight fight between No. 5 ranked Jessica Andrade and No. 10 ranked Tatiana Suarez.
