Rising 19-year-old bantamweight prospect Raul Rosas Jr. will be back in action at UFC Mexico City on Feb. 24 from inside Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico, as “El Nino Problema” meets former Ultimate Fighter standout Ricky Turcios.

This is according to a recent report by MMA journalist Marcel Dorff.

Rosas Jr., who just turned 19 this past October, is one of the promotion’s most promising young talents. The budding bantamweight fighter made a quick stop on the Contender Series before securing a dominant submission win to start his UFC career back in Dec. 2022. Rosas Jr. suffered an upset loss to Christian Rodriguez in April of last year before getting back in the win column with a sensational TKO over Terrence Mitchell this past September.

UFC is not only bringing Rosas Jr. back early into 2024, but the promotion is being smart in featuring the Mexican fighter at the upcoming Mexico City event. Rosas Jr. is one of the most exciting Mexican fighters on the UFC roster today so it would be odd to keep him off February’s card. Kudos to UFC matchmakers for getting that one right.

Standing in Rosas Jr.’s way will be Turcios, who hasn’t quite lived up to his hype since being featured on TUF back in 2021. Turcios is 2-1 during his short UFC stint, but both of those wins have come by way of split decision. He isn’t blowing the competition away and clearly needs to show more levels to his game before the promotion decides to cut ties. Stopping a surging prospect like Rosas Jr. is the perfect way for Turcios to regain momentum for the new year.
