UFC on ESPN 54 winner Kyle Nelson calls out Nate Landwehr, says ‘we’ll see him go to sleep’

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Kyle Nelson wants a piece of Nate Landwehr

The UFC featherweight called out Landwehr on Saturday following their respective wins at UFC on ESPN 54. Nelson (16-5-1 MMA, 4-4-1 UFC) stopped Bill Algeo (19-7 MMA, 5-4 UFC) by standing TKO in the first round, while Landwehr knocked out Jamall Emmers also in the first.

Nelson has been eyeing Landwehr for some time and given the recent results, he believes a fight between the two makes sense.

“Nate has been on my radar for a long time,” Nelson told reporters, including MMA Junkie, backstage at Boardwalk Hall. “We fought at UFC Vancouver in Canada together, and all the 145ers are on my radar. Nate had a good performance tonight. I like to stand and bang, he likes to stand and bang, so it makes sense to me.”

Nelson has picked up momentum in the last year. He’s now on a three-fight winning streak and looking to continue to extend it. The Canadian believes that if he were to get his wish granted, he’d finish Landwehr just like he did Algeo.

“It’s probably going to be pretty similar to the one I just had,” Nelson said. “Nate is also a very tough guy. I think I’m going to hit him with some hard shots, and this time we’ll see him go to sleep.”
